Gym and strength coaching

Does the gym feel like a confusing or unwelcoming environment?
Do you want to be stronger and more capable physically?

Start training with me in Helsinki or online!

“It feels for the first time that this gym thing has become a positive thing that gives me energy, instead of making me feel annoyed and ashamed.” – Drazen

Hi! I’m Jonne Kytölä, a personal trainer working in the Helsinki area and the host of Voimafilosofi-podcast (Strength Philosopher).

If you are a beginner at the gym, together we will get to know the heart of every gym: free weights like barbells, kettlebells, dumbbells, and the weight of your own body. We’ll create a foundation for motivating and progressive strength training supplemented with mobility and cardio training as needed.

If you are a more advanced trainee, together we’ll bring your training to the next level. Maybe the keys to your progress lie in better programming, a more inspiring selection of exercises, or improved focus and attitude during tough sets. Let’s investigate together what might be holding you back, whether it’s a small bump on the road or an unhelpful repeating pattern.

Nutrition coaching

Is healthy eating confusing?

Would you like to have your eating habits make sense to you?

Let’s figure out a sustainable way to tackle your nutrition issues!

“I used to not be able to tell what I eat and why. In Jonne’s nutrition coaching, I’ve found the right answers for myself and now I feel balanced with my food.”
-Kati

I’m happy to discuss minor changes to your nutrition during training sessions. But if you are really looking to change your eating habits, nutrition coaching is what I recommend.

We’ll figure out what your nutrition looks like and why. By clarifying your eating patterns we’ll be able to pinpoint what are the smallest changes that give the biggest results.

There’s not a single method for nutrition coaching that works. Sometimes the only thing that is needed is learning how to plate balanced meals. Sometimes it’s counting calories. But equally as often it is about learning your own psychological pitfalls and articulating your own values in relation to food.

I highly recommend combining nutrition coaching with some sort of exercise program. If you have an ongoing gym program, we can easily troubleshoot training issues during our nutrition video calls.

About me and a word on my podcast

About me

There’s a Finnish saying that goes: ”You speak of that which you lack”. The irony of the saying is not lost on me, as the name “Voimafilosofi” means “Strength Philosopher”.

But then again, no one likes feeling (or being) foolish and weak. Instead, when you feel and act in strength and wisdom – now that’s a great place to be in!

I believe that wisdom can be discovered by asking simple questions with humility. I believe that trying things with courage and curiosity in the gym can reveal the strength hidden in your body. I also believe that clear and attentive coaching pushes both beginners and advanced trainees to beat their obstacles in the gym and in the kitchen.

Get in touch if you’d like me to guide you in the world of strength and nutrition!

Some notable series in the podcast have been:

-a 12-episode investigation into the concept of health

-a total of 13 episodes covering training and personality psychology

-a 17-episode series investigating physical training in relationship to cognitive science, wisdom and play

-a 9-episode series about the neuroscience of emotions and strength training
